The project was funded by the Victorian Government during 2022 and 2023 to support carers to explore their options for employment, training and volunteering. This website provides access to the resources and outcomes of the project.
The Community Houses Association of the Outer-eastern Suburbs Network was lead agent in a consortium to deliver the Carers Employment Support Program to 180 unpaid carers in the Outer East of Melbourne from 2022 to 2023. The Network consists of 30 Community and Neighbourhood Houses, many of which are also Learn Local Organisations.

This resource and planning kit was developed as part of this project and has been updated to reflect information current at the time of the conclusion of the project (December 2023).
The project can no longer project additional supports to carers but we hope this resource will be useful as a starting point for carers exploring their options.
There are more than 30 community houses in the Community Houses Association of the Outer Eastern Suburbs. They provide low cost activities, and aim to increase social connections in the community. Visit the CHAOS website for a full list of member houses and their contact details.
Walks for Carers invites carers of people with disability, mental illness or aged person a chance attend free walking events in your local neighbourhood, to connect with other carers and learn about the supports available. This state-wide program is led by Neighbourhood Houses Victoria’s Neighbourhood Carers Club. Each walking group is led by carers for carers. It’s what makes our program unique!
